This project in Hampstead NW3 entirely transformed and refurbished a listed coach house in a conservation area. The site had a large garden with some visiblity of the garden from the upper floor and none from the ground floor which was well below garden level.
By excavating a large lightwell, natural light and access to the garden was achieved via full width doors and glass roof. The building was also extended at ground floor level to add additional kitchen accommodation.
This met the needs of the client, carving a contemporary space from a very modest dilapidated building whilst working within a constrained site adjacent to a high value listed house.
